Gummy Smile

Gummy Smile Correction and Smile Enhancement with Crown Lengthening and Upper Veneers

This patient came to us concerned about excessive gum display and teeth that appeared short and worn. Upon diagnosis, she was found to have altered passive eruption, a condition where the gum tissue covers more of the tooth surface than normal, making the teeth look smaller and the smile less balanced.

To address the gummy smile and restore proper tooth proportions, we performed a precise crown lengthening procedure. This allowed us to reposition the gum line and expose the full anatomic length of the teeth, creating a more harmonious and proportionate smile.

Once the ideal gingival contours were established, we placed 12 custom-made upper ceramic veneers to restore the shape, texture, and color of the teeth, which showed signs of wear and aging. The final result is a naturally radiant, well-proportioned smile that reflects both functional integrity and aesthetic finesse.

By combining periodontal surgery with minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry, we were able to achieve a long-lasting, natural-looking result that enhances both the patient’s smile and facial aesthetics.
